Hominy Creek Powerhouse


Rear view of the Hominy power plant, Asheville Electric Co. Print made from Caldwell (#193) original glass negative, dated 1905-6, stored in vault. Published 8/17/1930 “Sunday Citizen” which says this was the first power house in Asheville (and in WNC), built by James G. Martin soon after the Asheville Electric Light Co was established in 1886. Operated until about 1922.
